This entry is part 59 of 364 in the series CommanderCast

Posted by ANDY aka GHoooSTS
Over the span of about two weeks we asked the CommanderCast audience through various mediums what kind of questions they had for the Commander Rules Committee. Well, I compiled those questions and then myself and Donovan got in our panel van, drove out East, and abducted the shit out of Alex Kenny while he was hustling street corners so we could grill him with your inquiries (HARD). During the… ‘interview’ (we cut out the questions about where the RC hides it’s massive reserve of gold-plated diamonds and stacks of Internet Money), Alex called up Gavin of the RC as a ‘lifeline’. While we had him on the line, we figured “oh snap we can totes drop a podcast” so right there and then we recorded this piece. For something done up in an isolated rural location with three parties in a room consisting of nothing but a bare lightbulb, an old chair and some… restraints, I figure it worked out alright.

But we did more than spit fire into the Q&A cipher. This week we’re also talking about whether political favour is overrated and making some new deposits in the Secret Tech archive.

In other news UP IN THIS BITCH, don’t miss out on the Season 5 Contest! I’m taking entries for about a month, until the 14th of March, so get on your Magic Set Editor grind.

Show notes and pertinent links below. Enjoy.

SHOW NOTES

00:00 to 03:20: Intro: It’s a show and we’re talking on it. But wait… who’s talking, and about what?

COMMUNITY SEGMENTS

03:31 to 49:15: Real Talk Round Three: We’re asking the questions submitted to us by the audience over the last few weeks to two members of the Commander Rules Committee.

STRATEGY SEGMENTS

49:34 to 1:09:09: False Idols: Political Favour: Drafting is probably the most skill-testing element of Magic that involves multiple player influences at the same time. In this segment, we discuss the particulars of drafting the EDH cube. The rules are different, the decks are huge and the curves are high. What kind of picks are better than traditional cubes? Where does hate-drafting come into play? At what point do you lock in your strategy? How highly do you value mana fixing?

TECHNOLOGY SEGMENTS

1:09:23 to 1:31:58: Super Secret Tech: The time has returned to add more cards tot he hallowed archive of Secret Tech. This time we have some cards so secret, Donovan hasn’t even played them (TWIST).

Gavin’s picks:

Brainspoil, Perilous Forays, Keldon Firebombers

Donovan’s picks:

Cycling Lands, Submerge, Phyrexian Portal

Andy’s picks:

Fissure, Time of Need, Quicken
