Howdy there, folks! I know you’re all disappointed that Andy’s gone, and quite frankly, I am too. But the show must go on! I know we’ve had a small delay, but we’re back, and there’s no stopping us now! …unless you all decided I’m just not a good host, but let’s give that some time so I can find my groove, shall we?

Today we got Sean, Brionne, and Norbert jumping on this sinking ship and they’re going to help me get my feet wet as I dive head first into the shallow end of this podcasting pool.

As always, show notes, links, and download link are below…..kinda.

I am having some MAJOR problems figuring out how to get the link up because WordPress won’t let me upload any more than 7MB up at a time. In the mean time, I DID find a place where I can put the episode. You’ll have to go there to download it.

EDIT: Thanks a TON to my guy, CaptainRedZone aka Calvin. He was able to set us up with the links and whatnot so that you don’t have to go anywhere else for this week’s episode. Guy’s always got my back.

Real CommanderCast thugs will know all of these people on this episode. If you don’t then you’ve got some catching up to do with the back catalogue. It’s a special episode where I’ve collected three CommanderCast alumni from the program’s past (some more recent than others) to help me keep that hot fire burning in the worldwide EDH cipher. It was interesting and fun to get them together for a sort of cross-section of my stupid show’s history and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed recording it. Jeremiah, Fred and Mike were all on the staff at different times but came together for this episode like they’d been podcasting together for years, and I feel this is one of the better shows I’ve ever produced. And trust me, it wasn’t on account of my oft-embarassing contributions of prepubescent squealing.

What’s on the ticket for this week? Well, as usual, the CommanderCast goons on the information superhighway hold me down with some solid topics to cover and my team in the real also helped out. The random nature of games, upcoming cards, a prepackaged segment, and the importance of revenge are all on the table for us to dissect until you get tired of listening (or the show ends, I guess).

Show notes and pertinent links below. Enjoy.

Tired of being that tryhard that comes in and stampedes over your local group’s decks with only token resistance? Maybe you’re sick of ending every game int he exact same way, or have noticed you have about the same 120 cards forming 80% of your decks?

If you have the ability to recognize this, first of all, congratulations for being honest with yourself. Second, I hope this show–and week worth of content here at CommanderCast–can help. Call it ‘tryhard therapy’, I guess. We’re going to spend the week discussing why it’s worth your time to make sure your decks AREN’T optimized, as counter-intuitive as that may be. Many players often invoke the memory of a time when they EDH decks were stuffed with dollar rares and shit they had playing around the lab; today we’re more likely to hear about a $3000 cardboard brick full of combos, synergy, and other jazz. It can all start to sound an awful lot like you’re playing another other format, which for many players, is exactly what they wanted to avoid when they started slinging Commanders.

This week, me and my man Cassidy Silver of TCGPlayer.com and Off-Color Cast theme are joined by Alex from the Commander Rules Committee to help you find out a satisfying way to hit that throwback feeling while still enjoying yourselves. It might not be for everyone, but that’s one of the wonderful things about podcasting: I’m not legally permitted to force you to listen at gunpoint.

Worth noting is that our call-in show, otherwise known as the Call-InFerno, is approaching. If you want to volunteer for this… thing, you can! Check out this page and then contact me with your name, Skype ID, and proposed topic.

Show notes and pertinent links below. Enjoy.

This entry is part 61 of 409 in the series CommanderCast

CommanderCast goes international for the first episode in Audience Appreciation Month, kicking things off with special guest Thomas from all the way in New Zealand. Using advanted intertron spacetime distortion technologies (like Skype and the world clock), we have connected and recorded another explosive round of the audioscape adventure into the uncharted bowels of EDH. For the duration of audience appreciation month, all topics covered on the show will be audience-suggested, so if you sent me a topic like eight months ago… I’ve been working towards it, trust me.

Beyond that, we have a grand old time in this episode as Thomas turns out to be an OG from across the sea (note the illest rhymes on record). With myself drunk at the helm, Byron and Brionne act as stabilizing elements and our fearsome foursome lay science upon all manner of EDH topics that our audience have requested coverage of.

Oh yeah plus that whole Season 5 Contest thing that’s still happening. You could look into it, or not. Whatever (LOOK INTO IT).

Don’t forget we’re in the planning phases for our next towering Call-Inferno as well! If you want to make the jump from the audience into the cipher of CommanderCast’s next audience-interactive recording, read this page and send me an e-mail!
