Hello everyone and welcome to CommanderCast Episode 318! This week…. I…I Don’t know anymore…. Mark and Adam discusses the Yin and Yang of Magic sets this week, and by that i mean they go over Kamigawa and OG Ravnica.

So if that gets you pumped all you have to do is click the IB!!!

This entry is part 125 of 361 in the series CommanderCast

Posted by William/Captain Redzone

Hey folks, it’s been a while! William here, and I’m back with a shiny new computer that won’t crap out on me like my tired old laptop. Naturally, a new profile picture was needed to fit the “newness” that’s going on around here, but we’ll get into that in today’s episode.

In fact, we’ve got a ton of stuff to catch-up on. So much so that we kinda broke the segments and just recorded a conglomerate of topics together. Sorry about that. We’ll be back to form next week, hopefully with a new theme song too!

On today’s overloaded plate, we actually take some time to remember and talk about the tragic events of 12 years ago regarding 9/11 (as I feel it’s important to talk about something that touched absolutely everyone in one way or another).

But we’ll also get back to some light hearted stuff by touching on our thoughts regarding Theros, and lead into the prime attraction for today’s feature: The Return to Ravnica review!

(One of my favorite things to look up with “Return to Ravnica” in the search engine. Credit to whoever did this.)

As always, shownotes can be found after the Ib.

This entry is part 105 of 361 in the series CommanderCast

Another week, another podcast about cardboard wizards, legendary dragons, and the futuristic voodoo that we do so well. This week, we’re introducing the next generation of Commandercast volunteers by having Chris and Nole join me for initiation to the world of podcasting.

Both of these boys have done me proud so far, and I’m real proud of how they’ve contributed to the website so far. Check out their columns “Massive Art Attack” and “The Contract from Below” I'm not ashamed of this at all.

As always, shownotes, links, and download link are below.

….and no, I’m not ashamed of this picture at all.

This entry is part 34 of 37 in the series Generally Speaking

By Imshan AKA Sinis

Return to Ravnica is not so much a genius set idea on Wizards’ part as it is an obvious one. With Wizards wanting Modern to be the premiere eternal format, and further wanting to cater to the Commander player base, the block with the closest thing to true revised dual lands and an excuse to print legendary creatures in every two-colour combination is pretty much a no-brainer.

Of the legendary creatures printed in Return to Ravnica, only one of them is a head-scratcher. Rakdos, Lord of Riots obviously begs to be an aggressive creature or burn pile, while Trostani, Selesnya’s Voice is a new take on tokens, a little removed from Rhys the Redeemed.  Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord is stab at direct damage, much unlike Savra, Queen of the Golgari’s creature control.  Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius is simply an alternative to the original that doesn’t draw as much social hate but is just as much fun to play.  Which leaves Isperia, Supreme Judge. What do we do with this? Read the rest of this entry »

“The Selesnya are gathering armies. Do you still believe they aren’t preparing for war?”
—Teysa, to Isperia -Horncaller’s Chant

In just a few short days, players everywhere will be cracking open packs, tearing through booster boxes, and making Wizards wish they’d printed waaaaay more packs. Seriously, did you SEE the prize support for the pre-release? I don’t know about you, but my store’s was pitiful.

I’m sure plenty of you had the luck to open some legends. I was lucky enough to get not one, but two different guild masters at the pre-release. What did I get? Well, I was lucky enough to pull copies of Trostani, Voice of Selesnya in my Selesnya guildpack, and two copies of Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord in the packs I won.

I think the universe might be telling me something.

Of course, this gives me the perfect opportunity to use both of these guild leaders to talk about something any true guild member should pursue: The ultimate guild deck.
