This entry is part 51 of 299 in the series CommanderCast

In perhaps the most mentally exhausting season ever, where I prayed for a time dilation device but never got one, CommanderCast has taken some pretty sweet strides. Crossover Month? Check. Sick guests? We done did it. Gifts Given? All joking aside, that was actually super sweet. Essentially, we became spiritual millionaries, expanding our minds, opening our hearts, and WHOPPIN ASS WHEN PLAYING DEM CARDS. Truly, we have all been enlightened.

Gifts Given auctions are now happening. If you have money, you can spend it on these cards, and then enjoy them; the money you spend will be diverted to Child’s Play, a worthy cause if there ever was one. The auctions have been firing off and making monies in ways I honestly did not think would happen, and many bidders have been beyond generous with their funds that I understand are limited by the fact that the world economy is basically teetering on the knife’s edge, mostly tilting towards the ‘global ruin’ side. So I really thank you guys–donors and purchasers–for being so charitable when things are kinda hard all over.

Also Season 5 Contest! Make a new song for the Free-For-All Roundtable! You could win things, make ‘art’, and help the podcast out, which I consider a win for everyone involved.

In three weeks (hopefully) I will come back in a whirlwind of sound and fury, bringing back the realest talk that the internet has ever seen as it pertains to a small subset of a fantasy trading card game. Some things will change (the music); other things are, as always, the same (I will still have no idea what I’m doing when playing Magic). It will be comforting and refreshing at the same time… or horribly alien and grating. Only time will tell. But since you’re here reading this, you’ll hopefully at least come back to find out.

The Call-InFerno descends on the internet again, burning down it’s series of tubes with white-hot firey discussions! It’s the third call-in show on CommanderCast and we’re doing it up rightwise yet again. Eight callers from around the Commander community have agreed to jump on board and make sweet, sweet noise you can listen to with your ears about EDH. Despite being smashed with the worst technical obstacles that have ever hit a call-in episodes (we lost a man, SoulReaverDan… we had to re-record a segment… we had to record some separately… it took almost an hour to start… Donovan was in a hotel or some shit), I feel this may be the best one yet with the huge list of diverse topics.

As a side note, do yourself a favour and check out these sweet-ass-sweet Gifts Given auctions that are currently underway. You don’t hate buying sweet cards, do you? And I can only assume you don’t hate Child’s Play. Subsequently, I think it only makes sense that you bid in these auctions.

We had our first glitch with Crossover Month this week as sadly, something happened and Jack LaCroix was unable to join us for the podcast. However, knowing there was an emergency afoot, I picked up the red Podcast Phone next to my computer, which is a direct line to Chris Lansdell. Within seconds he was prepared to cast. Ladies and gentleman, this guy is the DEFINITION of hustle. I do think he filled the role admirably as well, especially for having only like ten minutes to get ready. Also joining us this week is Matthew, aka MistveilPlains, providing us with his own brand of commentary as he steps out of the YouTube game and into the podcast scene for the first time.

Gifts Given now has an end in sight. Auctions will begin shortly. Baller-ass merchandise will be sold, and monies will end up in the coffers of Child’s Play. In the end, we all win. If you want to help out, you need to put some spring in your step and do it now.

This is also the last podcast in crossover month. To all involved; we win. Thanks for the help. It’s been pretty awesome.

It’s still Crossover Month. Deal with it! This week’s podcast features a bunch of ManaDeprived.com goons. As our non-podcast guest we have Dave aka Derfington, the artist behind Durdling Around; and JayBoosh and Scotty Mac from the Eh Team podcast spit fire into their mics for a show composed of cursing, grunting, and Magic-ing. The grunting is truly next level. Some of the conversation is pretty good too, if that’s what you’re here for; for this episode we spent a bit of time sippin’ Haterade before we started recording to go all-in on negativity, talking about Doucheology, Hated Out, and then what we consider the most played-out cards in Commander.

Gifts Given: It’s Still A Thing™. If you would like to send something in to be sold off at Child’s Play’s benefit later, then please check out this link and follow the instructions. The final date to do so is fast approaching.

Also, the call-in episode is approaching. My plan is to record on Wednesday, November 30th at approximately 8pm EST. If you want in, you need to e-mail me and let me know. The screening process is pretty vigorous (first-come, first-serve… with a few holdovers from last season), so brace yourself.

GrimGrin: Grin or just Grim?

November 16, 2011

This entry is part 3 of 7 in the series Crossover Month

By OWEN aka ZIMAGIC
Zimagic is the curator of The Crazy 99, a generalist blog about Commander. You can find deck lists, format politics, and even some research over there. Owen’s crossover partner this month is CommanderCast’s Max of Peasant Rebellion fame. You can see his half of the crossover here.

Dear Reader,

Read this first.

Thank you for your patience.

When Max and I sat down to hammer out our crossover, I was very happy when he started rambling on about Zombies. I love Zombies in Magic.

Then he dropped the bombshell: Max announced that he was championing Grimgrin, Corpseborn against Thraximundar at the head of a Zombie army!

I know, right?! Read the rest of this entry »

The independent Commander community continues the month-long AVALANCHE of crosssover content this week as we move into Crossover Month Week Two!

This week’s podcast we have two champions from the online EDH scene; Uriah, El Presidente of CMDRDecks (the premiere deck tech video on YouTube for Commander players worldwide) and Chris Lansdell, MtGCast’s favourite son and notorious Twitter whore. Rounding out the lineup for this episode I have Adam with me and together we take a bunch of different topics and suplex them through the Spanish announcer’s table. But don’t think this is the only crossover joint going down this week: check out my appearance on CMDRDecks, head over to The Crazy 99 on Wednesday for our crossover article with Zimagic (his partner is Max), and then on The Command Zone Brionne is crossing over with Thaumaturge on Friday!

Time is running out on your window to contribute to Gifts Given! I’m accepting donations until December, but we all know how the post office rolls. If you want to contribute, DO IT NOW SON. Read this page, e-mail me, and let’s get this thing going!
