In a milestone of independent website planning that spans the intertron and webternets, nations and continents, and time and space itself, CommanderCast’s Crossover Month continues to EXPLODE IN YOUR FACE in the best way possible! We’ve connected our affiliates sites in a complex lattice of unending crossover-ness, supplying one another with content and material of all sorts for the month of November. This is our first crossover podcast in a series that will run for the entire month, where we will host one guest from another show on the MtGCast network, and one from a non-podcasting… thing.

This week we’re joined by Sean from RedCastWins (ok, this one might be cponsidered cheating, but DON’T BLOCK MY SHINE SON) and Gavin from the Commander Rules Committee. To prove we are doing roughly ZERO fucking around, we have served up an epic two-hour broadcast loaded with drama, fights, information, lulz, and even other stuff, probably. Who knows what else might be in there? Quick, find out by listening!

Be advised that all content normally posted on Fridays will be postponed to Saturday in observance of Remembrance Day in Canada.

Show notes and pertinent links below. Enjoy.

Captain on deck! This week we have Calvin aka CaptainRedZone from Three to the Face!!! joining us for our weakly-themed Halloween episode. When I say ‘weakly themed’, understand I am not messing around. You will almost certainly forget that we tried to have a theme by the end of the episode, but hey… we tried. We really did. Also on the show I have Byron and Carlos to provide their expertise to the proceedings, so that’s always good. There’s also a special guest joining us from beyond the grave (like that could stop a baller of his stature): Vincent Price, whom many of you may not be familiar with but whatever.

We have a lot to cover this episode. The Reserve List, metagame deck construction, and a Halloween theme deck are all in the scope. This week we also introduce “Captain’s Orders”, a new Technology segment where we design theme decks. This is our first time with it, so as always if you have ideas on how to improve the segment in terms of structure, presentation, or whatever, then let me know. These things take some time to work out.

Also, Gifts Given continues to advance at breakneck pace. Contributions are pouring in from around the world. The lot is getting large enough that I had to move it’s storage location from one corner of my desk to a designated box. That might not sound like much, but we’re talking a volume of cards here that’s pretty substantial. I am going to be taking contributions until December, at which point the whole affair will be going onto eBay to be auctioned for Child’s Play. Start saving up now because some of these joints are going to be ridiculously pimp!

This week’s CommanderCast is a very special episode. Just like every other one.

I have Justin and Neale aka Wrongwaygoback joining me in our first three-person show of the season. While one might predict the lack of a fourth mic would lead to a DRASTIC drop in quality, we managed to bullshit our way through the hour and a half pretty effectively in my mind. This week’s show is a variety of topics covered in shorter segments than usual, closing out with a single, explosive and extended technology segment where we craft the Braids, Conjurer Adept deck; truly a crack-pipe dream, but a dream nonetheless.

Also this week the Gifts Given charity drive continues to function as an explosive success. Monies are being raised, cards and being mailed, and soon funds will be inbound to the good folks at Child’s Play. As always, more information can be found on the right side of this website by following the link.

CommanderCast this week has some all-time EDH all-stars, putting the podcasting game on notice with Bennie Smith, Cassidy Silver, and CommanderCast Tactical Podcasting Team standbys Andy and Donovan. While I think this week’s podcast is certainly on point, I would hope that this is just a standard expectation for the show every week. But this week, things are a little different. Gifts Given kicked off last week with a literally overwhelming strong positive response from the CommanderCast audience. Some of you I know, so of you I have never heard from. But you are all awesome and have made the auction wildly successful, far beyond what I ever imagined it would be. To see who’s contributed what, check out the Contributions page; to see how you can get involved, scope out the Gifts Given Charity Drive page.

I also want to say that unfortunately, my wife took our camera with her on a two-week trip. I’m unable to do a prize raffle video as a result, but did figure out some winners. They’ve been e-mailed about it, so don’t worry. Next week will be done in video format.

Anyway, the podcast itself should also be pretty good. We have a few new segments this week I’m sure you will enjoy. As always, hit us up with some feedback if there’s anything you want to see or hear, especially regarding our new stuff; they usually take a while to iron themselves out into the razor-precise format of something long-running like Secret Tech or the Free-For-All Roundtable.

This was a week full of surprises. I mean, not really in the context of content production. I generally have to read the articles posted here, and listen to the podcast a MIND-BENDING three times before it’s released (trust me, it’s not nearly as exciting after the second time). But what was surprising was the overwhelming positive response to Gifts Given, which I will honestly say I was worried would just be annoying to a lot of people. Instead, I’ve been fortunate enough to have the curtain pulled back, revealing a huge swath of CommanderCast listeners who are a secret cabal of super-ballers with charitable inclinations. This is, in case you’re wondering, the greatest kind of shadowy cabal to discover lurking in the depths of any community. So, thanks to everyone who helped make the first week of the charity drive a outrageous success. Is this momentum sustainable? I doubt it, since I honestly can’t imagine something topping this week, but you never know.

Speaking of Gifts Given, check back this Sunday for the first video with the raffle giveaways and some other random prizes. Be advised: Ghettovision™ production values will be engaged.

Anyway, here’s the stuff for this week.

This week’s episode of CommanderCast is preceded by an announcement about our new Gifts Given Charity Drive. For more details on the affair, you can click here or follow the link on the right side fo the page; in summary, though, I’m selling a bunch of stuff on eBay to give away to a charity and I’m trying to raise more money through listener contributions of cards. There is more information on both the podcast and around our website, and you will be hearing more about it in the coming weeks. If you have no interest, skip to 8:00 in the podcast and you can bypass it entirely.

Otherwise, it’s business as usual for CommanderCast. And by business as usual, I mean we’re whooping ass and putting out more and more podcast material. This week’s episode has special guest Frank from Crazy Talk lending us his excellent accent while Byron and Carlos back me up on the track.
