Season three, you just started and already you’re done. Where did the time go? Oh wait, it disappeared into over a hundred hours of recording, editing, writing, proofing and posting material for the site.

This postcast has about five minutes of me thanking people at the end of it for helping support the website, so I’m not going to mention them all again here. I do think it’s worth reiterating that the site is only as successful as the audience makes it. For CommanderCast this goes way beyond the realm of just having people look at the site; it’s the e-mails I get with constructive criticism, the funny Tweets my Twitter Team throws at me, the comments posted on the site; all been great. But some of our audience takes it to the next level by providing written material, joining the podcast for a show, and hooking me up with free graphics and other materials or resources. It’s become a true community project and that’s for the best, because if I was doing this alone, it’d be mad shitty.

Season 4 approaches, and with it we move closer to our new website CommanderCast.com. This is a hugely exciting development for us, and hopefully it will be for all of you as well. Bookmark that joint now and join me there on September 19th for the Season 4 Premiere.

That’s all for three weeks, and the end of CommanderCast.blogspot.com. I hope you all make the transition to the new site with us and join us–as a consumer or contributor–again for another thirteen episodes of the continued audioscape adventure though MtG’s premiere casual format.

LETS GET IT

It’s our second listener participation show! The Call-InFerno returns from season two with more of our mans from around the world being jammed into a Skype room to contribute to CommanderCast’s ongoing audioscape adventure! I had the privileged of being joined by nine insightful/funny/awesome guests who volunteered their time and voice to help me craft a new episode of CommanderCast. This one went extremely well, with virtually no hiccups on the technical side. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

On a quick side note, I’ll be at Canadian Nationals in Toronto this weekend. If you want to play some Commander, throat-punch me for something I said on the podcast, or just haggle for drugs, hit me up via e-mail or Twitter and let me know your intentions.

This week me, Byron, Donovan and Scotty from the Eh Team are talking about things that are laid out in the show notes. This was recorded like two weeks ago, so if anything sounds kind of dated, well… life goes on. This week Scotty and I are speaking at length about a format we have been experimenting with locally called “Respawn Magic”; we’ll tell you how to play it, and then tell you how to manipulate the rules and beat your friends until they hate it.

This week also sees the return of the Retro Cycle Review with a SUPER cycle review of all the Time Spiral Magi. There’s also some other reasonably sweet stuff flying around at various points on this track.

Show notes and links available below. Enjoy.

When Donovan e-mailed me about Pauper Commander, I was like, “isn’t this a format for poor people and losers who associate with poor people?” As a rap-video-rich baller, I didn’t imagine anybody would care about this little corner of the Commander world. After all, commons only? Even the most broke Magic players can afford uncommons. I was sitting there contemplating the worthlessness of Pauper Commander, warming myself with the glow of burning $100 bills and nodding off to the sound of my stock ticker. I suddenly awoke from this dream to find myself needing to replace the bags on my feet. I fought the raccoons away from my bag-holding bag and decided, “maybe this Pauper idea isn’t so bad.”

So then we did this podcast. Adam Styborski appeared (kind of like social services), cleaned me up and made sure I was in podcasting form by bringing his knowledge of the format, as well as his facial hair. Throughout this hour-and-something long cast, you can join me on an introductory journey to the world of Pauper Commander with my guides, Donovan, Carlos (podcasting by messenger pigeon this week) and Adam.

An exciting week here at CommanderCast! Season 3 contest winners selected? Check. The end of the monocoloured madness? Check. Rules committee R&A, part two? YOU SEE IT! Brace yourself for this episode because it’s totally sweet. There’s a lot going on here (about two hours worth of material), but don’t worry… between Donovan, Brionne, Alex and myself, we should be able to guide you through the material without an unexpected vomiting fits or joy seizures.

I also want to provide extra thanks to my co-hosts. Brionne was super helpful as our point man for the mono-white discussion, and I assure you she was very good in this role. Alex also deserves extra thanks for making himself super accessible to us and you, answering pretty much any question, and generally chilling with us. Alex and Brionne also both came through big time when a file was lost and re-recorded a segment with me early on the weekend. Also, as always, Donovan prooflistened this joint up.

Also, don’t forget to check out the Circle of Judgement this week featuring Derfington! We pick our winners (if you’re lame, you can also just check the contest results page and scroll down) and talk our picks.

Show notes and links below. Enjoy.

Nobody likes mono-blue decks, mono-blue players, and cards that are best in mono-blue. Subsequently, I don’t think anybody will like this podcast. The contents are all mono-blue, with the exception of the final segment, which is still all about blue cards. I’d like to apologize to our listeners for supplying such an inherently unlikable podcast. Myself, Byron, Carlos and guest Neale aka Wrongwaygoback accept full responsibility for producing this travesty. Neale has volunteered to accept the hatemail, as well as physical attacks in the real.

If you think you can stomach listening to a bunch of boring mono-blue crap, show notes are below. Try to enjoy it, I guess.
