This entry is part 52 of 391 in the series CommanderCast

Hop into the CommanderCast time machine and leap back to Season Two! We were still in the digital equivalent of a hovel. The staff was burgeoning. We were just doin’ our thug thizzle. Me and Carlos recorded a podcast one night when it seemed nobody else could make the recording. While we later did record a podcast that covered many of the same subjects, this is an interesting novelty of an episode that I found sitting on my hard drive and I figure there’s no reason not to use it for SOMETHING.

Towards that end, I’ve edited it and posted it like all our other shows, complete with show notes. I will say this is not a normal show, having only myself and Carlos talking about subjects you have heard discussed across several episodes that have been posted since we recorded this. But for the hardcore CommanderCast enthusiasts out there this will at least give you something extra to listen to.

Here at CommanderCast, when I do something up, I prefer that it’s done up rightwise. Given the rightwiseness of this season, I can only hope this season finale is an appropriately explosive way to cap the thirteen-week experience. Joining me for this podcast I have my main man Carlos backing me up, accompanied by Jeremiah (my most bitter internet friend) and Byron, a CommanderCast OG. Together, the four of us form a biblical podcasting beast that roams the audio countryside, smashing thatched-roof cottages and axe kicking would-be champions attempting to best us.

It seems like just yesterday I started CommanderCast with nothing but a free weekend, some boredom, and a couple of PMs on a message board… well, not really, this is a lot of work to maintain! I am looking forward to getting to play Brink until my eyes bleed (PM me on XBL if you want to play, my GT is GHoooSTS)! Anyway, as always, all I can do is come through and show love to my whole team. Carlos, Randy, Donovan, Jeremiah, Byron, Matt, and Adam are all huge parts of the reason CommanderCast is the quality product I’m proud to produce today. I get a lot of e-mails, but if you really like this podcast, please take the time to contact one or two of these guys, especially, if you’ve liked things they have said or done in the past and let them know.
If you wanted to know what happened with our Season 2 contest, be sure to check out the CIRCLE OF JUDGMENT. We run down our favorite entries and decide the winner. Be advised that there were some technical problems (the beginning is cut off and Donovan sounds like a drunken robot for some reason). Hopefully you can enjoy it regardless.
Anyway, that’s it for Season 2. I’ll be back in a few weeks with more of this hot fire, should you be so inclined to check back. The period between seasons is the ideal time for us to incorporate new ideas and such into the show; check out our Listener Interaction page for some ideas on that front. If you’re really fiending for some CommanderCast action, then hit up the updated Content Index to see some of our older works, which can hopefully tide you over until our return.

This is the call-in episode we’ve been anticipating for a while. I hinted about it on Twitter last season, but now it’s become a reality. For a little over a week, I’ve been asking people if they’re interested in making a CommanderCast appearance. Well, this week, eight of those people are getting UP IN THIS PIECE and we’re doing a sort of super Free-For-All Roundtable. Each caller has their own subject and we discuss them over the span of ten minutes apiece; me and Carlos are hosting, and we have two callers tagged in for any given subject. We’re getting a variety of viewpoints of a huge range of topics here.
Be advised this isn’t as focused as our usual podcast, and the organization is atypical, but we wanted to do something special and give our listeners a chance to be on the show. Keeping CommanderCast accessible has always been a huge priority for me, so this seemed like an ideal expression of that.

Continuing the trend of completely shameless crossovers from episode ten, this week on CommanderCast I am hosting the entire Muse Vessel. They come bringing their usual collective multiplayer Magic wisdom with me putting a Commander twist on their deluge of information. Now you can put a voice to the… uh… editorials of the Graveborn, Seedborn and Windborn Muses–Daryll, Brandon, and Bruce. You also get a reasonably sweet podcast.

Also of note:

COMMANDERCAST LIVE
Now you can be a part of PODCASTING HISTORY with CommanderCast’s first live call-in show! Do you like Commander? How about talking? Then this is right up your alley! Think “boring AM radio show” meets “colossal explosions” and you should have an idea of what this episode will be like. Maybe YOU can be one of those explosions, or at least some shrapnel!
This episode will be recorded starting at 9:00PM EST on April 30th, 2011.
How can you take part in this? Instructions below:
  1. You need Skype (free to download up in this piece) and a microphone that works reasonably well. Bruce used a Rock Band microphone to record and sounded pretty sweet, so if you have one of them, try it (it also makes you feel like a rock superstar, always useful).
  2. Make sure you’re available April 30th, 2011 for 9:00PM EST. If you have engagements like sleep, weddings, or liquor store robberies, I’d recommend rescheduling.
  3. E-Mail CommanderCast(at)gmail(dot)com and express your interest with the subject heading “LIVE EPISODE”. If you know you will be available, provide me with your Skype name.
  4. BRACE YOURSELF and await instruction.
  5. We will be accepting callers on a first-come, first-serve basis. There might be four of you, there might be four hundred (probably not)! We’re going to cap it at a reasonable number, so don’t wait to e-mail me! Also, if you’ve already been on the show, be advised we will be giving priority to those who have never made a CommanderCast appearance (though prior guests will be more than welcome to join the host panel).
LETS GET IT

CommanderCast is doing another CHEAP PROMOTIONAL CROSSOVER with Mr. Scotty Mac from the Eh Team, just like last season’s episode 10 installment. I also brought Carlos and Byron along to form like Voltron and assemble into a singlular entity of knowledge-spewing, audi-producing, podcast-publishing excellence.
The Season 2 Contest has also come to an end! If you didn’t get your entry in before I posted this, WHY DID YOU WAIT SO LONG!? Anyway, stay tuned for the upcoming CIRCLE OF JUDGMENT and announcement of the contest winner! Remember, we’re not only slinging out a sick custom card altered by my man Derfington, but you could also win a vandalized card by none other than myself in the style of Malfegor, the Flying V!
Finally, the upper-left corner holds the final restriction for Carlos’ Deckbuilding Challenge; a choice of general! Make your vote count in this historic event in Commander deckbuilding (cough).
