In case you haven’t noticed yet, its Vorthos week here on Commandercast. That means its a great time to put together a Massive Art Attack for you. So you are a Vorthos, your deck is centered around a theme. Maybe your personal goal is to get the Skyship Weatherlight with Gerrard Capashen and the rest of the Weatherlight crew onto the battlefield at the same time. Perhaps you have built a deck based on your favorite Game of Thrones faction and casting Dire Wolves or Fire//Ice is what you want to be doing. It could be that you have a Michael Bay deck that only includes cards with big explosions and natural disasters in the art, thats why you run Word of Blasting and Earthquake. All of your basic lands are chosen specifically to fit the theme or overall feel of the deck. Now how do you take your theme to the next level? Theme your tokens!

That’s right! Massive Art Attack is back this week to make a cameo appearance.  For readers who don’t know, in Massive Art Attack I like to take a look at terrible MtG art, awesome alters, and any other Magic art related topics.  Next week Staple Remover will be back at it’s regularly scheduled time to bring you the second part in the mono colored deck building series: Green. This week at the Theros prerelease I opened a certain card, with a certain character on it. Who cares, right? Well I think I found a clue in the art for this new card that foreshadows a major plot point that could be coming up in Theros block. Read on to find out what the card is, the clue I found in the art and what it might be hinting at.

Staple Remover will not be seen this week, instead I have a mid-season Art Attack update for you. For all Staple Remover fans, if there any out there, don’t worry it will be returning next week. It just so happens to be great timing to check into the world of Magic the Gathering art. Wizards has botched a couple things recently that I couldn’t help but address. The new sliver art that has been revealed so far for M14 is a huge mess. Also, I’ll take a look at Garruk’s slowly distorting body as well as the new black on black planeswalker promos that Wizards just announced. Read on!

This week we take a dive into the altered art of Xela.  Xela is a Magic enthusiast and card alterist whom I have had the pleasure to meet through a mutual friend.  The first time I had a chance to flip through the binder of works she has done, I was amazed by how crisp and vibrant her works was.  I hope you enjoy her work as much as I have.  There are plenty of pretty pictures to look at, so lets dive in.

This week on Massive Art Attack I’ll be taking a look at the most basic of graphic design on a Magic card, the frame.  The old school frames were replaced after being used for ten  years.  The current frames have also now been in use for ten years.  This is my tenth article, so I figured it was a good time to tackle the topic.  I’m going to start off with brief history of the card frames for newer players, then I rank my favorite frame for each color.  Sound kind of interesting?  Then read on!

Today is Friday.  A great day to sit back and look at some great alters.  I won’t be doing a set art review this week.  Instead I’ll be taking a look at altered cards once again.  This week we have another submission of altered cards from a reader.  Also I will be showing off my favorite alters from my own commander decks.    To wrap up the article. I will be taking a look at a cool new hassle free way to trade.  You may have heard about it on the podcast before, but if you haven’t taken a look at it yet, Pucatrade can hook you up big time.  Now its on to the show.
