This entry is part 493 of 493 in the series CommanderCast

Hello everyone and welcome to CommanderCast Episode 455! While we maybe a little late to the party due to uncontrollable circumstances we’re coming to you a little earlier than usual. This week Mark and Adam just want it to stop. WotC did a Magic Showcase for all of the upcoming projects for next year. We have a return to some familiar planes, demons doing their best Godfather/Good Fellas impersonations, people fighting in the streets, and Magic cards flossing? So as the old farts we are we have to at least try to see if we can make any sense of this while giving our own take on the  future of the game. We follow this up with a look at side hand effects and if they’re worth being ran in your next game. Plus we take a moment to go over some of the most expensive cards to be release exclusively in Commander product over the years and try to determine if they warrant the price tag they have or are they just flashes in the pan that only got to be so costly by being so rare to get a hold of in today’s market.

Technical Difficulties

September 7, 2021

Unfortunately, this week’s episode had to get put on the backburner while we deal with some real life fallout from the crazy storms we’ve had lately.  We’ll be back to normal as soon as we’re able, but please understand if that might take a little while.

We apologize for the interruption.

Thank you for your patience.

This entry is part 492 of 493 in the series CommanderCast

Hello everyone and welcome to CommanderCast Episode 454! This week, in preparation of the upcoming fall set and Standard rotation, Mark and Adam are taking a look back at one of the most controversial sets in recent memory that’s on it way out of Standard, Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths! This set came with all of the issues with Companion, trying to understand how Mutate worked, and some of the first cards in the game to have artwork of licensed properties that are not owned by WotC or Hasbro. Now as the time comes for it to leave Standard, is the a home for any of the cards from Ikoria in Commander, or will it disappear from memory only to be talked about in passing conversations of “Do you remember when I attacked your planeswalker with Godzilla?”. But first, The Professor has a video (linked below) that talks about how Magic is having a product overload. This is a topic we feel we need to talk about and touch on before the newest set drops and we get pulled into that next preview season.

This entry is part 21 of 21 in the series No-Show Monday

While I’m pretty sure that my laptop doesn’t have flying, the rest of my area will no doubt suffer some storm damage today, and unfortunately that doesn’t make for ideal conditions for podcast editing.

Thankfully, however, Adam and I were able to sneak in a recording session this morning so assuming my power doesn’t get knocked out for an entire week the next episode will drop on time. My apologies for the delay. Please blame Mother Nature and her once-in-a-generation storms for any inconvenience.

We will all be fine, but I really appreciate the listeners who’ve already reached out to me to see how we’re holding up.  You all know who you are and you’re awesome.

Hello everyone and welcome to CommanderCast Episode 453! This week Mark and Adam signing contracts to sell their souls to some of the most powerful creatures in Magic’s history! With the coming return to the Gothic Horror plane of Innistrad, comes the need for power beyond what mere mortals wield and a need to make some deals on order to survive. Everyone knows that on this plane one of the best ways to unlock this untapped potential is find a Demon and make them an offer. So in order to hold up our end of this deal, we first have to go over the recent preview of cards from Innistrad: Midnight Hunt. Then we move on to talk about the best ways we can figure out how to play a deck full of some of the most dangerous creatures for us to have on our side of the field. Finally, we tell you of some of the best cards to help you finance your segments of these shadowy agreements.

This entry is part 490 of 493 in the series CommanderCast

Hello everyone and welcome to CommanderCast Episode 452! This week Mark and Adam’s pockets are hurting with trying to keep up with all the new cards that WotC keep churning out. In the current year we’ve seen set after set go by almost completely unnoticed because of how soon the “next big thing” is a few days or a week after it came out. So today we have to ask if it’s worth it to try and keep up with the cards that are being printed or is it just best to take time to enjoy the ones we have already collected before we move on to the next thing? Then the guys want to take a moment to ponder over how much card draw do you really need in a deck where your Commander has a built in draw effect already? Finally, we wrap things up with a quick look at so cards that might help with so of our low funds by finding us a ton of treasures!
