The Deck: Primal Genesis – Mike
General Thoughts (Ha! Puns!):
- Ghired, Conclave Exile
- Meh
- Only 1 rhino token?
- Atla Palani, Nest Tender
- Not enough sac outlets in the precon
- An exciting play style because you dont know what you will get off of the eggs
- Marisi, Breaker of the Coil
- Makes all your spells uncounterable during combat
- The goad mechanic seems like an interesting thing to build the deck around.
- This is my favorite of the three
Strategy – How does the deck play?:
- Straight out of the box the deck plays like any other precon. You play out threats, and you have answers for your opponents threats.
- The only general that really seems to fit the deck straight out of the box is Ghired. With all of the populate cares cards, it really appears as though WotC wants you to have Ghired at the helm.
- I’m not a Naya player by any means, but I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Technology – Highlights & lowlights:
Thumbs down:
- Commander’s Insignia
- Great card, terrible for this deck due to the CMC of the commanders.
- Cliffside Rescuer
- Not terribly useful outside of the precon
- Voice of Many
- Not very impressive
- Full Flowering
- Slow, Mana intensive, Win more card
Thumbs up:
- Idol of Oblivion
- At first, i wasnt a fan of this, but over time the extra card draw is really nice.
- Doomed Artisan
- I love how this guy’s name basically tells you how to play him.
- Tectonic Hellion
- God forbid you get a token and start populating with this
- Ohran Frostfang
- I think both of the abilities are super relevant. Just not sure about the mana cost.
- Selesnya Eulogist
- Graveyard hate is always a great thing.
- Tahngarth, First Mate
- This guy giving you extra phases on other people’s turns
- Song of the Worldsoul
- Watched a guy scoop when I had this and the embalm angel out.
- Scaretiller
- Pretty sure this guy is beyond super abusable
- Ghired’s Belligerence
- I like this. Interesting and can be back breaking depending on what you are
- Hate Mirage
- This I can see being good.
- Reasonably costed for the effect you are getting
Recommended Upgrades:
- Anything that says “Untap target creature” or “Untap All creatures”
- Ashnod’s Altar
- Goblin Bombardment
- Village Bellringer
High-end Upgrades:
- Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker
- Splinter Twin
- Vedalken Orrery
- Shimmer Myr
