This entry is part 402 of 538 in the series CommanderCast

Hello everyone and welcome to CommanderCast! This week we continue to breakdown the 2019 Precon decks! Mark and Adam kick things off with a a overview of the Rakdos colored deck, Merciless Rage! We start with General Thoughts as we go over the three main Commanders for the deck. Then, we go into how the deck plays, what strategies are built in, and if they work like they should. Then a quick Tech segment where we go over cards that get a thumbs up or down and a few ideas for what to add and where to move some of the cards for a better experience.

The Deck: Merciless Rage

General Thoughts (Ha! Puns!):

Strategy – How does the deck play?:

  • Anje = one-way ticket to Value Town
    • Churns through your deck quickly; very fun.
    • Can occasionally stall out
  • Lots of unexpected synergies
  • Desperately needs:
    • Some wraths (ala most precons)
    • More powerful creatures
    • A reminder card for morons like me that Madness can skirt around timing restrictions
  • Low ceiling; This strategy/commander doesn’t have much room for growth
    • I think Billy said it best in the comments section of our Madness episode: this isn’t a mechanic designed for our format.
