This entry is part 468 of 542 in the series CommanderCast

Hello everyone and welcome to CommanderCast Episode 430! This week Mark and Adam are trying to keep you out by putting their walls up. Literally… With Wall.dec style deck building. We’re talking about some of the reasons you might want to take a look at some of the games best creatures with Defender and the in game advantages you can get by walling yourself off from your play group. But first, we have to talk about Banning and some of the cards that have recently been deemed too much for people to play with in certain formats. Then we wrap thing up with a quick discussion on White and the future WotC have planned for one of the weaker colors in the game.

All that, plus our usual interstitial fodder, and all you have to do is Click the IB!!!

Keep up with the conversation on Facebook & Twitter.

All the bans (except for our format)

Strixhaven previews

Interstitial fodder:

  • Midnight Cowboy: strange relic of the ‘60s (probably not worth watching)
  • Valheim is Minecraft with Vikings & better combat. It’s neat.
  • Invincible animated series on Amazon
  • X-Men Legends

Walls.deck, Defender deck, Toughness-matters deck

Assigns combat damage equal to its toughness rather than power

Walls and cards with defenders

Favorite walls/defenders

Misc. Toughness matters cards worth playing

Flash-y Tech in White

Gavin’s “White gets Flash Now!? Here’s What’s Next for White!

  • White will get more Flash
  • R&D has finally realized that White needs more Card draw. Shocker. (Symmetrical, recursion)
  • White needs ramp, probably symmetrical.

*Note: (per Gavin’s request):

  • This is not inclusive of everything R&D is doing
  • We might not see these things for a while. Cards in the pipeline will take a while to show up in Standard.
