Hello everyone and welcome to CommanderCast Episode 256! We’re your weekly source for Community, Strategy, and Technology, hosted on and our homesite,! This week Mark & Clay are joined by Nick to discuss house rules, mastering the art of the “Rube Goldberg” deck, and what ended up being an unfortunately-titled Technology segment.  See what happens when you try to get cute when naming these things?

Community: Free-for-all-Roundtable – “House Rules!”  What’s the equivalent of “Free Parking” in your meta?  What happens when house rules butt up against the Rules Committee?  And, of course, the most contentious of all house rules: to allow takesies-backsies or not?

House Bans?

Mastering the art of the  “Rube Goldberg” Deck (or, somebody please teach me how to assemble the Station Combo in less than four hours).

Kurkesh, the Lord of “Build-a-Combo”

Best/Favorite Achilles’ Heel cards (think “best Red card draw” or “best Blue removal spells”; the best cards in a color’s weakest area).

Clay: Blue “LD”: Back to Basics, Mana Breach // White Card Draw: Bygone Bishop, Mentor of the Meek

Mark: Blue exile effects: Curse of the Swine, Reality Shift // Green control: Hall of Gemstone // Green counterspell: Avoid Fate

Nick: Song of the Dryads, Chaos Warp, Land Tax, Wayfarer’s Bauble, artifact destroy effects (OStone, Disk, All is Dust, etc), Outpost Siege

Nick – “blindfremen” (in the forums), and you can check out his work on the Anime Summit podcast.
