Rival’s Duel Episode 1: Commander Face off (Simic Edition)
September 19, 2013
By Eric Bonvie and Nole Clauson
Hello everyone and welcome to our first schedueled edition of Rival’s Duel, the podcast where Eric argues that anything is permissible and Nole argues that it’s not. This week we are answering one of the most common questions that gets asked in commander. That question is “What is the least fun general to play against in a certain color combination?” This week we are looking at Simic and whether Momir Vig or Edric is worse to play against. Give us a listen and let us know what you think. Shownotes and contact information after the break.
Shownotes:
0:00-4:17 Introductions & general conversation
Shoutout to the guys who played with Nole at SCG: Salt Lake. Sorry we never got another game in guys.
4:17-18:21 What’s new in Magic: Theros Spoilers Edition (Note: This was recorded on 8/20 when we thought it would drop on September 5th. If nothing else this serves as a wonderful look at our pre-spoiler speculation.)
Nole like Polukranos as yet another piece of creature on creature removal in green (This card is a Green Plague Wind).
Eric like Anax and Cymede because it costs three (cheap date) and seems “boros-y”
18:22-40:35 General Face off (Simic Edition)
It’s a face off of the U/G generals. Simic has a very high average strength for each of it’s generals. However, the two we feel are the “worst” to play against are Momir Vig. Simic Visionary and Edric, Spymaster of Trest. Take a listen and decide who you think is less fun to play against.
